The original Oktoberfest got cancelled again this year, which gives us a reason to celebrate the Wiesn even more. Join us on Saturday, 09 October from 11am to 2pm at Brezel to have a Bratwurst roll with Sauerkraut, Leberkaes Semmel, a Gingerbread heart for your better half or a delicious freshly baked pretzel. Of course, our standard goodies will be available as well. While we are not licensed, we will have authentic German alc free wheat beer that goes down smoothly with one of our savoury treats. German Marble Cake Recipe

Who doesn't love a pretty authentic German Marmorkuchen aka Marble Cake. That's why we're sharing this delicious recipe with you today: Ingredients 200 g   soft butter or dairy free alternative 160 g   sugar 20g      vanillin sugar 1 Tsp.   shreds of lemon rind 2 Tbsp Rum 6          egg yolks 6          egg whites 1 Tsp    salt 120 g   sugar 280 g   flour 1 Tsp.   Baking Powder 100 ml lukewarm milk or dairy free alternative 20 g     cocoa powder   Mix the soft butter with 160g of sugar, vanilla sugar, lemon rind and the rum until creamy. Danube Wave Cake Recipe

This recipe is dedicated to my beloved Godmother Moni as it has been the one dish she's always brought to every celebration and something I will always associate with her.  This traditional Donauwelle, translated Danube waves cake, is layered alternating with vanilla and chocolate cake dough, sour cherries and vanilla cream. After the cake is baked and cooled off a chocolate glaze is applied to the top of the cake and waves are made using a fork. When the cake is cut in squares it looks a little like the waves of the Danube river from the side. The 'Donauwellen' cake looks very elegant and tastes great with the different flavor layers.
